What is Pick One?
One of the best ways to have a great first year experience at the University of Arkansas is by getting involved on campus. We want to get you plugged in with new friends and your favorite interests before even arriving to campus. By participating in Pick One, you’ll join a group that is entirely based on your interests or hobbies.
Throughout the first few weeks of college and several times throughout the Fall Semester, you’ll connect with other first-year students by engaging with programs and events within your interest area.

Am I Required to Pick One?
Our goal is to get all first-year students involved, provide the opportunity to make new friends and enjoy doing the things you love while at the University of Arkansas. Although it is not required, it is highly encouraged to participate!

What if I plan to go Greek, am in the Band, or am a Student Athlete?
Greek Life, Marching Band, and Athletics are great ways to get involved here at the University of Arkansas! We know that these come with large time committments, so there is no need to participate in Pick One! You are more than welcome to participate in both programs if you see a Pick One group that interests you!

Why Should I Pick One?
Your transition from high school to college is influenced by many factors. Some factors have a greater influence on a student’s college success than others. Getting involved in campus life (making friends, finding connections, learning about resources, sharing a common goal, and so much more) is one factor in finding success that you can directly influence. It’s important to get involved early and stay engaged outside the classroom!

Can I Pick More Than One?
Pick One is limited to one selection due to each selection having limited participation. Make sure you sign up soon so you don’t miss out on your top Pick One choice!
You can always get involved in any organization you like after the first day of classes. We encourage you to try as many opportunities as you can until you find the one that fits your interest and hobbies! To get involved beyond Pick One, visit HogSync and explore what other opportunities exist on campus! You are also encouraged to visit the many booths at Hill Fest and Razorbash. These events take place during the first week of Welcome Weeks on the Arkansas Union mall.

What if I Miss the September 1st Deadline?
Don’t worry, students can always get involved! Visit HogSync, then explore the various events happening around campus and see what Departments or RSO’s are seeking new members!

Jonas Zabriskie
Assistant Director for Student Engagement and Outreach
Welcome to the University of Arkansas! I’m excited for the you to join us on your new home on the hill!
Pick One is a great way to connect with groups and other students on campus who have similar interests as you. By selecting a Pick One Group, you’ll have the opportunity to become members of groups faster than your peers who don’t participate in Pick One! Last year alone, over 2,000 New Freshman participated in Pick One, several of which are now executive members of the organizations they joined just the year prior!
If you have any questions or concerns regarding Pick One that isn’t answered above, please email me at jezabris@uark.edu, and I’ll be happy to talk more about the Pick One Initiative.
See you this Fall!
